Kimblewick bit with port, also known as tongue relief. The bit is solid and made of stainless steel.
The Kimblewick bit has a similar effect to a pelham bit, where the gag-like action is limited by the curb chain. Instead, the chain distributes pressure to the jaw/nose bridge and poll. The difference is that these are milder than a pelham bit, as the reins can be attached in different ways depending on the desired leverage.
We recommend the Kimblewick bit for experienced riders with soft hands, as it is a strong bit.

Usage
When using any bit with a curb chain, it is important that the chain is properly adjusted – it should neither be too long nor too short. The chain should be tight enough so that the bit cannot rotate backward more than 45 degrees when rein pressure is applied. It should not be tighter than this, as it may cause chafing or internal injuries, but not looser either, as the chain would lose its purpose and the bit would become too sharp. If you're unsure, we recommend asking your trainer or another knowledgeable person to show you how it should be fitted.
