The Beris Pelham with Port, model Konnex Thin Short Soft, is a slimmer and more refined version of the classic Konnex design. With a thickness of just 15 mm, this bit provides increased space in the horse's mouth. The proportionately designed port offers a relieved feeling for the tongue. The Konnex mouthpiece combines an anatomical shape with clear tongue relief and remains stable in the mouth thanks to the smooth transition to the side parts.
The slimmer construction makes the bit feel less bulky and can provide more precise contact. As a Pelham bit, it offers both direct pressure in the mouth and a leverage effect via the cheek chain, distributing pressure over the tongue, bars, poll, and lower jaw. The effect can vary depending on how the bit is used, for example, with one or two reins.
This bit is recommended for experienced riders with a steady and responsive hand, as the leverage effect requires good feel and control in riding. Note that the mouthpiece is not intended for horses that chew on the bit. Pony sizes come with proportionately smaller side parts. Cheek chain sold separately.
