Pelham Bit Double Jointed HG

Double Jointed pelham bit, from Horse Guard, in stainless steel with normal-length shanks. Comes with an included curb chain.

We recommend pelham bits for experienced riders with a gentle hand, as it is a strong bit.

Usage
When using any bit with a curb chain, it is important that the curb chain is correctly adjusted so that it is neither too long nor too short. The chain should be tensioned so that the bit cannot move backward more than 45 degrees with rein pressure. It should not be tighter than that, as it can cause chafing and internal injuries, but also not looser, as the chain loses its purpose and the bit becomes too sharp. If you are unsure, we recommend seeking help from your trainer or another knowledgeable person who can show you how it should be fitted.

Pelham bits can be ridden with double reins, allowing you to control the bit's action by varying the pressure applied to the leverage part and the regular bit ring as needed. If you want to ride with a single rein, there are different types of connectors available to distribute pressure between the regular and lower rings.
