  • The Loose Ring Snaffle Sweet Iron is a double jointed snaffle with Cherry Rollers. Made of stainless steel and equipped with a blue, steel-blend Sweet Iron coating, which, together with the balls encouraging increased tongue activity, both stimulates the chewing process and increases saliva production.

When the Sweet Iron material comes into contact with moisture, air, and heat, an oxidation reaction occurs. The sweet iron coating will then rust, resulting in the bit's surface tasting sweet and becoming easier for many horses to accept. As oxidation occurs, the bit's blue color will fade over time, but the sweet taste of the surface rust will remain.

A double jointed design has two breaking points, which means that the bit can shape itself best according to the horse's own anatomy. The central part will lie flat on the horse's tongue, thus affecting the bit with an even pressure throughout the horse's mouth, unlike a two-part bit whose breaking point places greater pressure on the outside of the tongue and the bars and in the palate.

Bits with loose rings allow the horse more flexibility to determine its position, unlike a bit with fixed rings that remain stable in the horse's mouth, offering less flexibility for the horse. However, loose rings have the advantage over fixed rings of providing a quicker release, making them very suitable for beginners on horseback. Nevertheless, bits with loose rings are usually recommended for more seasoned horses, as young horses, horses in training, or those struggling to find support on the bit typically perform better with bits featuring fixed rings, providing more support.

    The bit's thickness is 14mm.
