An anatomical double jointed snaffle bit from Lippo with a horizontal central piece and loose rings. Made of brass with stainless steel rings.
A double jointed bit has two joints, allowing it to conform optimally to the horse’s natural anatomy. The central piece lies flat on the horse’s tongue, distributing pressure evenly throughout the mouth, unlike a single jointed bit where the joint places more pressure on the outer parts of the tongue, the bars, and the roof of the mouth. This bit also features a slightly curved shape, reducing pressure on the bars even further, making it milder than a standard double jointed bit.
Bits with loose rings are more flexible and allow the horse to influence the bit’s position, unlike fixed ring bits that stay steady in the horse’s mouth but offer less flexibility. Loose rings provide quicker release, making them especially suitable for beginner riders. However, loose ring bits are generally recommended for more experienced horses, as young or untrained horses, or those that struggle to find contact, often benefit more from fixed ring bits that offer better support.
The bit’s thickness is 15 mm.
