The development of Horseware's incredibly popular Micklem Competition Bridle - now with even better leather quality and an enhanced design to guarantee the utmost comfort! Unlike the previous model, this bridle features a curved design for the noseband, jaw strap, browband, and headpiece, as well as a wider bit strap, all to make it as comfortable as possible for your horse.
The Micklem bridle is an extremely popular addition to the bridle market, serving an essential purpose with its ergonomic design. The entire design is based on tailoring the bridle to fit the horse's anatomy, thus avoiding pressure on sensitive facial areas, which also benefits the horse's inner mouth comfort.
Made from high-quality dark brown, organic buffalo leather, with soft padding on the poll, noseband, and more.
Horseware's innovative Bit Clips are a tool that you can easily attach between the bit and the cheekpiece when needed, to keep the bit stable and avoid unnecessary pressure on it. Bit Clips are not approved for competition but are a good addition for young horses or riders with unsteady hands.
- Anatomical fit
- Does not exert pressure on sensitive facial nerves
- Curved headpiece, browband, jaw strap, and noseband
- Wide bit strap
- High-quality synthetic leather
- Detachable Bit Clips included
Some clear differences from a regular bridle include the following:
- The noseband sits higher, avoiding pressure on the sensitive nasal bones. The lower strap is angled to function as a traditional noseband. The higher strap also prevents pressure on the sensitive nerves in that area, something that, in the worst case, can cause the lower part of the head to go numb and be uncomfortable for the horse.
- The headpiece is wider to avoid sharp pressure on the poll and is well-padded, making the Micklem 2 Competition very comfortable for the horse.
- The cheekpieces are positioned to avoid pressure on the protruding cheekbones, a sensitive point on the face.
- Ensures that no pressure is applied to the tooth row where it can easily cause rubbing and damage to the soft parts of the horse's mouth.
How to fit the Micklem 2 Competition Bridle
- Start by attaching the bit to the bit strap with the snap facing outward. Then attach it to the rings at the end of the cheekpiece as shown in the picture.
- The key to fitting your Micklem bridle is to ensure that the noseband is approximately 2–3 centimeters higher than the corners of the mouth to avoid pressure on sensitive areas.
- The rear strap (jaw strap, but it sits farther forward) should be in line with the skin, not loose like a traditional jaw strap.
- The noseband should be buckled in front of the bit like a traditional noseband close to the skin.
- The bit straps come in two different lengths; try which one fits your horse's anatomy best.
