NAFs Electro Lytes are used to replace the four key body salts (sodium, potassium, calcium, and magnesium) that may otherwise be lost when the horse sweats heavily, for example, during strenuous exercise or warmer weather. A horse with healthy electrolyte levels is less likely to suffer from fatigue, which in turn leads to decreased performance.
You can easily add the supplement to the daily feed ration or alternatively to the horse's water. Regardless of whether you choose to mix the supplement in feed or water, it's essential to ensure that the horse has access to a large quantity of water whenever any form of electrolytes is given. For horses in maximum work or during extremely hot weather, it is recommended to feed a more concentrated form of electrolytes, such as NAF's Electro Salts. Keep in mind that when this supplement is also given, the horse needs to have access to a lot of water.
Dosage
Feed after strenuous work in hot weather or to compensate for the horse's electrolyte losses related to heavy sweating.
Horses:
- Initial dose (given for 1-3 days) - 90ml/day
- Competition dose (given for 1-3 days) - 60ml/day
- Standard dose - 30ml/day
Ponies:
- Competition dose (given for 1-3 days) - 40-60ml/day
- Standard dose - 15-30ml/day
At a dose of 30ml/day, 1L lasts approximately 33 days.
