Note:
The mask’s average UV protection is over 70%, but this varies depending on the material. The white fabric of the mask offers a full 90% UV protection, which extends the time a horse can be in the sun without risk of sunburn. However, the mesh over the eyes provides only 60% UV protection, as the holes in the mesh need to be large enough for the horse to see clearly. For horses with extra sensitive, pink skin, it is recommended to use the mask along with sunscreen to ensure optimal protection even where the mask’s mesh is less dense.
The effectiveness of UV protection can decrease over time, so it is recommended to replace the fly mask after prolonged use.
