How do I choose the right size?
One of the most crucial aspects when buying a rug for your horse is ensuring it fits correctly. If you already have a rug that fits well, it's easiest to use that size as a reference. However, this may not always be an option. Choosing the right size is actually quite simple, but it starts with knowing where to measure. In Europe, we measure the rug size over the back, unlike in the USA, UK, and Australia, where they measure the lower part of the rug. Look at the image below and measure along the back, from the withers where the rug should typically start (you can easily find images online if you're unsure) all the way back to the tail. Rugs come in sizes with 5-centimeter intervals, and for turnout rugs, we recommend rounding up since horses turn their hindquarters to the wind and weather. Therefore, it's important that the rug is not too short.
