In accordance with Kentucky's sustainability vision, they have developed the Bamboo shield as a green technology in the leg protector market. Bamboo is the fastest-growing plant in the world, and it possesses tremendous tensile strength, outstanding resistance to penetration by sharp objects, and antibacterial properties. This makes bamboo an optimal component in leg protectors.
The protectors are made of a black, robust TPU shell with multiple ventilation holes near the tendons and a larger, triangular-shaped mesh ventilation that ensures air circulation and prevents overheating. The section near the tendons is then reinforced with a bamboo shield that protects the horse from impacts. At the joints, the leg protectors are equipped with soft, natural rubber that reduces friction, and the inner parts of the protectors are reinforced with an extra layer of TPU for added durability. The lining consists of 3D Spacer mesh, which has a top and bottom layer of knitted polyester and an intermediate layer of fiber, which in combination provides shock absorption and excellent breathability.
They have been tested in Kentucky's own-developed testing machine, which, with a force of 80N, strikes horizontally on a horse's leg bone, with a razor-sharp surface, which they passed with flying colours. They are also approved according to Rico and RCT standards.
Thanks to their anatomical design, the leg protectors fit perfectly around the horse's legs, offering maximum comfort and protection at the same time, leading to maximum freedom of movement.
