In accordance with Kentucky's sustainability vision, they have introduced Bamboo Shield as a green technology in the leg protection market. Bamboo is the fastest-growing plant in the world and possesses tremendous, stretchable strength, exceptional resistance to penetration by sharp objects, and antibacterial properties. This makes bamboo an optimal component for leg protection.
The protectors are made of a sturdy black TPU shell with multiple ventilation holes at the tendon and a larger triangular mesh ventilation that ensures air circulation and prevents overheating. The tendon area is reinforced with a bamboo shield to protect the horse from impacts. At the joints, the leg protectors are equipped with soft, natural rubber to reduce friction, and the inner parts of the protectors are reinforced with an additional layer of TPU for added durability. The lining consists of 3D Spacer mesh, which has a top and bottom layer of knitted polyester and a middle layer of fiber, providing shock absorption and excellent breathability, among other benefits. The Sheepskin model is also coated with vegan, artificial sheepskin for extra comfort. The natural-colored fuzz adds a stylish detail.
They have been tested in Kentucky's proprietary test machine, which applies a force of 80N horizontally to a horse's leg, with a razor-sharp surface, and they passed with flying colors. They are also approved according to Rico and RCT standards.
