Trikem Gut Balance is a prebiotic feed supplement for horses with sensitive stomachs and intestines. The product is developed for horses that frequently suffer from loose or watery manure or free fecal liquid (FFL). The combination of prebiotics, Maerl, bentonite clay, vitamins, and licorice helps promote a balanced intestinal microflora, supports digestion, helps the horse maintain normal intestinal function, and contributes to a stronger immune system.
The horse's nutrient absorption and energy supply depend on the microbial fermentation that takes place in the hindgut. The environment in the hindgut is sensitive and can be affected by factors such as feed changes, prolonged stress, or antibiotic treatment. When the balance is disrupted, the number of beneficial bacteria decreases while undesirable bacteria may gain a greater foothold.
Gut Balance contains prebiotics in the form of both FOS (fructooligosaccharides) and MOS (mannanoligosaccharides), which serve as nourishment for the beneficial bacteria in the gut. By supporting the natural intestinal microflora, digestion can be improved and manure can return to a more normal consistency.
The natural red algae Maerl (Lithothamnium spp.) helps stabilize the pH balance in the stomach and intestines. Thanks to its porous structure, its minerals are easily absorbed by the body. Maerl acts quickly on stomach pH while providing a long-lasting effect, helping maintain a stable pH level and protect the stomach lining while reducing the risk of irritation.
Bentonite clay has a high absorption capacity and binds and neutralizes toxins in the stomach. Its excellent absorptive properties enable the clay to attract harmful substances and contribute to healthy intestinal function.
The product is also enriched with vitamins to compensate for reduced nutrient absorption that may occur during digestive disorders. Licorice has been added to support digestion and improve palatability.
Gut Balance can be used both as a daily supplement and as a course during periods when the horse needs extra digestive support. Available in powder form.
Gut Balance is suitable for:
- Horses with loose or watery manure
- Horses with free fecal liquid (FFL)
- Horses with sensitive stomachs or intestines
- During feed changes
- Horses sensitive to certain types of forage, such as haylage or silage

Dosage
20 ml (12 g) per 100 kg body weight daily. Do not allow digestive supplements to remain soaked for extended periods. Administer in the feed immediately before feeding for maximum effect in the horse's stomach and intestines. May also be mixed dry with the regular feed.
Large horse (500 kg): 100 ml per day
Pony (250 kg): 50 ml per day
For more severe digestive problems, the dosage may be doubled.
