The History Behind Samshield

Sam Maloigne, who has a background as a professional motocross rider, is the creator behind Samshield. When he switched his focus to professional riding in 2003, he quickly noticed that the range of riding helmets lagged far behind other sports in terms of technology and functionality. With a passion for stylish, safe helmets, he decided to start a project to create riding helmets that would not only be safer and more comfortable than those already on the market but also of high quality and customizable to individual preferences. Working together with some talented young riders, including Kevin Staut and Simon Delestre, he developed his first Samshield helmet, which became a success. Today, Kevin and Simon are among the top elite riders in the world, and they, along with many others worldwide, use Samshield helmets.

How to Find the Right Helmet and Liner from Samshield

The range of sizes for Samshield helmets is almost unmatched. Unlike many other riding helmets whose sizes are based on head circumference, Samshield's shells come in standard sizes like Small, Medium, and Large. For your Samshield helmet, you then have a liner that determines the actual size of the helmet. Liners range from size 52-61 and come in both round and oval shapes. What sets this system apart from other brands is that the sizes overlap. For example, size 55 and 56 are available in both small and medium, making it easier for, say, a child to find a suitable helmet, as they can choose a smaller shell. The system also has the advantage, especially for younger riders who are still growing, that you can simply change the liner if the helmet becomes too tight—you don't need to buy an entirely new helmet!
