The horse's lower legs are designed in a way that exposes tendons to high stress. However, since there is no extra supportive tissue in the lower legs and around the tendons, or at least not more than what is absolutely necessary for their springy elasticity, it's not uncommon for horses to suffer from various types of tendon injuries. Such injuries often require a long resting period to heal.
By choosing high-quality leg protection that covers and shields the most vulnerable parts of the horse's legs, as well as absorbs the force from different impacts and blows, you can reduce the risk of tendon injuries. High-quality leg protection also provides increased stability to both tendons and joints, which, in turn, reduces the risk of overstretching, overstraining, or incorrect loading.
However, the downside is that leg protection, by enclosing the horse's legs, which is also necessary to protect tendons from impacts and blows, often traps and stores heat around the horse's legs. Excessive heat, if it becomes too high, can risk damaging the tendon tissue.
Arma's brushing boots provide adequate protection against impacts and blows. Oxi-Zone protection, unlike many other leg protectors, offers 360° ventilation and optimal airflow. It dissipates heat, reduces moisture levels, and simply keeps the air around the horse's legs circulating, instead of trapping moisture and raising temperatures.
As if that weren't enough, the ventilated brushing boots are also equipped with Pierce Proof metal mesh to prevent penetration of sharp objects and debris.
The boots have elastic straps and fasten quickly and easily with a convenient Velcro closure. This model has a sleek, classic look, but if you want something a bit more luxurious, and perhaps, especially fluffy, there's also a model with an edge in soft faux fur.
