Trikem Gastro is a smart supplement for horses with sensitive stomachs – or for periods when the digestive system needs a little extra support. It’s suitable for everyday use as well as during times of stress, competition, travel, or medication.
Many horses are negatively affected by stomach acid, especially when routines or environments change. Gastro contains 35% lecithin – a natural ingredient that helps protect the stomach lining. Together with polysaccharides, it forms a gel-like barrier that coats the stomach, much like a balm. This may reduce the risk of irritation and discomfort, especially in sensitive horses.
To enhance the effect, Gastro also includes Maerl – a red sea algae that buffers stomach acid and helps maintain a stable pH level over time. This gives the stomach better conditions to function properly, even during more challenging periods.
Since horses produce stomach acid continuously, even when not eating, it’s important to maintain good protection – particularly in performance horses, young horses, or individuals prone to stress.
Gastro can be given daily or as needed, for example during competitions, feed changes, or medication. The supplement is pelleted and easy to feed. Recommended by veterinarians.
Gastro is recommended for:
- Horses with sensitive stomachs.
- Horses with previous gastric issues during stressful periods, such as travel or environmental changes. Also during medication that affects the digestive system.
Dosage:
15ml (10g) per 100kg body weight per day. A double dose is recommended for the first 10 days, then follow the regular daily dose. Mix dry with the rest of the feed just before feeding (do not soak).
Horse weighing 500kg:
Initial dose (first 10 days) – 150ml/day
Maintenance dose – 75ml/day
Pony weighing 250kg:
Initial dose (first 10 days) – 80ml/day
Maintenance dose – 40ml/day
