Pads – Gel, Memory Foam, and Anti-Slip

Many people likely associate Acavallo with some form of gel pad, as these have truly solidified their reputation as a manufacturer of world-class pads. Gel pads can encompass a variety of types, all with the common feature of providing more or less shock absorption and excellent grip. A gel pad can be thicker, providing good shock absorption but lifting the saddle slightly more and affecting saddle position (desired in some cases), or very thin, primarily preventing saddle slippage. The latter type is often referred to as an anti-slip pad and has minimal impact on saddle position. A trending type is those made of memory foam. Memory foam has many excellent properties as it perfectly conforms to both the horse's back and the saddle, while also effectively absorbing shocks. Acavallo has even combined these types by developing models in memory foam with gel sections to prevent saddle movement.

Adjustable Pads and Smart Accessories

In standard form, a pad lies evenly on the back without affecting either the rear or front arch of the saddle. However, there may be situations where you want to, for example, raise the rear arch of the saddle, and Acavallo has created models to address this. This can be achieved either through a wedge-shaped pad placed in the back or front for the desired effect, or with full pads built up in the front or back to achieve the desired result. In addition to pads and stirrups, Acavallo offers some clever accessories, such as innovatively designed bit guards or soft gel cheekpiece tunnels for even pressure distribution.
