Who is behind Cavallo Hoof Boots?
Cavallo was founded in 1993 by Carole Herder in British Columbia, Canada, and has been a family-owned company since the start. Together with Greg Giles, who joined in 2004 with experience in manufacturing and marketing, Carole Herder has built Cavallo into an international brand whose hoof boots are used by horse owners all over the world.
The philosophy – letting hooves work naturally
The idea behind Cavallo grew from Carole Herder's belief that horses do best when the hoof is allowed to keep its natural function. A barefoot hoof can flex, absorb shock and stimulate blood circulation in a way that a nailed-on steel shoe restricts. With its hoof boots, Cavallo wants to give horse owners the option of keeping their horse barefoot in everyday life and protecting the hooves only when needed – for example when riding on hard or stony ground.
The work has been recognised far beyond the stable. In 2010 Carole Herder received the RBC Trail Blazer Woman Entrepreneur Award, and Cavallo's Trek model has been studied in independent research at Western Kentucky University, where it was compared with traditional steel shoes.

Cavallo Trek – the all-rounder
Trek is one of Cavallo's most popular hoof boots and works for most disciplines, from trail and endurance riding to jumping. The breathable mesh upper and the adjustable hook-and-loop closure make it comfortable and easy to put on and take off. Trek is also a common choice during rehabilitation.
Cavallo Simple – the rugged everyday boot
Simple has a leather upper that moulds to the hoof, a built-in breakover for a natural stride and a rugged sole with good grip. A durable, no-fuss model for trail and everyday riding, and a good choice for horses with sturdier hooves.
Cavallo Sport – for higher speeds
